Elevator Pitch

 

Summarize who you are, what your company offers, and how it adds value to the space. An elevator pitch should be extremely short, no longer than 30 seconds, or about the time it takes to ride an elevator. Be sure to practice and perfect your elevator pitch until you are confident and succinct in your delivery.

 

INTRODUCTION

Say your name, role, and your profession or type of business. For example:

“Hi I’m {Name}, the {title} of {Anytown’s innovative new widget microfactory}.”

 

VALUE PROPOSITION

Quickly but clearly explain the value your company brings to clients and/or the problems it solves.

“With our new {product/service}, there’s no need to do {unpleasant thing}.”

 

FUNCTION

Explain what you do as succinctly as possible.

“That’s because {function or feature}.”

 

HOW YOU’RE DIFFERENT

Make it clear what differentiates you, your product, or your service from the rest of the market.

“People choose us because {innovative feature or service element}.”

 

BRIEF EXAMPLE MENTIONING TARGET AUDIENCE

Very short anecdote about success in problem-solving for customers.

“We were able to {impressive result} when our client {situation}. It’s a problem many {population or subset} experience.”

 

CALL TO ACTION

Make it clear what you want the other party to do, such as: connect via social media, make an introduction, attend a meeting about your product or service, invest in your company, use your service, or carry your product.

“I’d love for you to {action}. Thank you so much for your time.”
